Silky Smooth Skin

May 1, 2014

Hello May!! Time to rock the tank tops and short shorts… also time to exfoliate and moisturize all the dryness winter left behind, yes?? Since my skin is very sensitive and breaks out easily, I’m really conscious about using natural / organic beauty products and avoiding preservatives, chemicals, and toxins. I’m happy to say I finally found the perfect regimen!

| Cleanser: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
This is my daily facial cleanser, it’s very gentle and cleans throughly without stripping my skin. Sometimes I go back and forth between that and Trader Joe’s Nourish All in One Facial Cleanser (which you can buy at your local Trader Joe’s for $5.99!)

| Mask: Mask of Magnaminty
I use this mask once a week on my face and back. It’s made with china clay and fresh peppermint, which pulls out impurities deep from your pores without behind harsh or abrasive.

| Face / Body Scrub: Ocean Salt
This is my favorite product of all time. It really is incredible. The sea salt scrubs away all the dirt and dead skin; the avocado and coconut hydrates; and the lime and vodka cleanses black heads and blocked pores. Yes, lime and vodka – smells like a margarita!

| Body Conditioner: Ro’s Argan
Conditioner for your body?? Genius. This stuff is amazing! I normally slather this on in the shower, rinse, and get out feeling smooth and smelling good.

| Face Oil: Maracuja Oil
After I wash my face at night, I rub on a couple drops of maracuja oil before getting in bed. My skin is combo dry / oily, so you’d think putting oil on your face would make it greasy – nope. This really moisturizes and rejuvenates my skin. Everyone is different, some people use it daily, twice a day, or every other day, so you’ll just have to find what works best for your skin.

So tell me, what do you use for your beauty regimen?! I’d love to know!

Amazing post. LUSH products are incredible aren’t they? Ocean Salt is also my favourite product – I love how abrasive it is yet doesn’t make my sensitive skin go red and blotchy. The scent of Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner is amazing as well, the scent of it is my favourite LUSH scent!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Oh my goodness, LUSH is soo amazing! I really wish I could try every single one of their products. But thankfully, everything I’ve tried for the first time (listed above) have been amazing and exactly what I need! And yes, Ro’s Argan smells absolutely delicious! I always forget how good it smells until I put it on, and it’s a wonderful reminder! Hope you’re having a great day, Daniela!

  • Nan // Simply Elegant

These suggestions are fabulous! I am so glad you posted this because it resonates so much with me. I have always struggled with my skin because I have skin that is always prone to breakouts and acne. In the last year I have really tried to switch up my beauty products to more natural and organic lines, but I have not found any natural products that work with my skin and I have often just end up breaking out more…So I am so excited to hear that these products have worked for you, I am going to head to the Lush store next time I am in the city, that Ocean Scrub sounds great!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Yay! I’m so happy this post is helpful to you, Nan! I find that watching what you eat and what you put on your skin make the biggest difference in keeping your skin fresh and clear. I really hope you find remedy in these Lush products. I also use Fresh (cleanser and mask) which I find to be very gentle yet cleansing. Let me know how it works for you, I’d love to know!

  • Kyla

You know, I’ve never actually used Lush products before, though I usually end up giving them as gifts. The Mask of Magnaminty definitely sounds like something I could benefit from – thanks for the suggestion!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

That’s how I used to be too, Kyla! Gifting Lush, but never trying it for myself. I think you’ll really love the mask of magnaminty – it’s amazing :) Let me know if you try it!

  • Sydney

My face is also combo dry/oily but lately it’s been super dry. I will definitely have to look into trying out the mask and face oils! Thanks for the suggestions!! :)

  • Danielle

LUSH is the bees knees! I use their products from head to toe and will never look back. Ocean Salt is one of my favourites. I’ve never tried one of their masks although I’ve been meaning to. I will definitely try out the one you recommended!

  • Cintya

I haven’t tried many LUSH products, so I’m very thankful you made this post. I’ll definitely give some of these a try next time I stop by LUSH, especially the Ocean Salt scrub. Thanks!

  • Yolonda J Washington

I’m glad you spoke on Lush. I’ve been wanting to give it a try but wasn’t sure, but now I most certainly will.

  • juni

I’ve heard loads of good stuff about Lush! Might have to try out a cleanser by them soon. I use my clarisonic every other night, and use aesop’s juniper oil at night. Agreed that these oils are surprisingly non greasy.

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

That clarisonic is amazing – I should’ve added that to the regimen also, but I don’t use that every day. I would love to try Aesop’s products too… I think that will be my next purchase!

  • drinkcitra

What a great regimen indeed! I’ve only just started using a few LUSH products (a facial toner and a lip scrub), but I just love how natural and fresh they make the skin feel! I’m going to have to check out these products next time I visit a LUSH! :D

Lush is my go-to for beauty products! I specifically love that they aren’t over marketed to specifically women because I can even convince Zack to use them – since I believe it’s just as important for men to keep their skin healthy, it’s so nice that we have been able to cut down on the amount of products we buy by sharing! We use the sacred truth mask and salt scrub from lush, zum bar soap from whole foods, and organic aragan oil when our skin is super dry. Next time we are in the store, i’ll have to pick up the magnanimity mask!! Thanks for the recs :) Happy Friday!!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Yes, totally agree with you on Lush being for both men and women.. I love that! I’ve never tried the Truth mask, I’ll have to pick that up next time I’m there.. and the Zum bars from Whole Foods are amazing, aren’t they? Thank you so much for sharing your regimen, Court! I love learning about new (natural) products!

  • Alecia

Oh I love these products! MY skincare regimen is so simple its silly. I use coconut oil to wash my face and then wipe off the residue. It moisturizes and doesn’t strip my skin of anything I need. That’s it. I know I should invest in a more “real” skincare line. I am most interested in their body scrub (since you give it such high praise)….is it all natural V? Also I got that oil as a gift from Sephora, I think I need to test it out tonight and see what it does. I unfortunately, have the most finicky skin so I am so cautious when I try out new products. Wish me luck :)

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Omg you are so genius – coconut oil for cleansing and moisturizing? Why didn’t I think of that? I normally just use it on my body because I thought it’d be too much for my face, but I’m going to give it a try now. I definitely don’t think you need to invest in a “real” skin care line – I mean how much more real can you get than coconut oil? I’m not a fan of beauty products that have so many chemicals in it… so I LOVE your regimen.

Yes, everything is all natural! You can ask for a sample to try it out before you buy it, but I think you’ll love it! Did you try out the maracuja oil? Let me know what you think about it! xoxo

  • Laicie

Ooh I’m bookmarking this guy. I have super sensitive skin and I feel like I’m on a neverending search for products that really work. Thanks lady! Happy weekend!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Oh Laicie, I think you’d love these products. I find all natural is the best way to go when you have sensitive skin. I mean products with chemicals and preservatives just irritate it.. let me know if you give these a try!

  • Lolabell

Oh my goodness! I am so happy you posted this. I’ve been on the hunt for new amazing face / body products that are organic!! I’m trying this ASAP!!!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Ahh Lauren! You will absolutely love these! You can ask them to do some tests on you before you buy, they even give you samples if you don’t want to splurge before trying… but I really think you’ll love ;) Let me know, please!! xo

  • Corina Nika

Wow, really wow! Not just the packaging, but absolutely everything looks amazing here!

  • Jacquelyn | lark & linen

I ADORE lush! Have you ever heard of Paula’s choice? It’s not pretty, by any means (in fact that packaging is kind of heinous) but it’s unbelievable. It’s not cheap, but it’s a LOT less expensive than a lot of lines out there, and my skin has never, ever, ever been this good. I’ve only used it for about a month and a half but I’m seeing such crazy results already. I love it!

    • Victoria | Oh So Pretty

Oh, I’ve never heard of Paula’s choice! I like how you prefaced it with the packaging aesthetic ;) But it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right, and if you say it’s unbelievable, I’m definitely giving it a try! Thank you so much for for the recommendation, love!

  • alexa

Oh my gosh. I totally got this as a little gift from one of my husband’s employees for Chirstmas. I didn’t think much of it at first but I love this brand. The mask is so awesome. Glad you liked it too!

  • Kate

THANK you for this. I took notes!

  • Arianna

Love this! I too am trying to go all-natural when it comes to what I’m putting on my skin. My nightly regimen consists of exfoliating with my favorite tea tree oil scrub, putting on my vitamin-C eye cream, then my favorite organic face cream (mixed with a little argan oil if needed). :)
