“Be with someone who brings out the best in you, not the stress in you”
– Unknown Author

Confession time. I’m a super anxious person – a little too controlling, with maybe some OCD tendencies. I can’t help it. I want things done a certain way and have a hard time relinquishing control (I’m working on it guys). I think wayyy too much and pay wayyyy too much attention to detail (although, that is beneficial for designing!) My fiancé is the only one who really sees this side of me, probably because I don’t like to bother people with my worries. I am blessed to have someone who truly brings out the best in me, loves me for me, supports and encourages me, reassures and calms me. Life is already stressful, why spend your precious time and energy on those who add more??

I hope all my American friends had a wonderful 4th of July! Wishing everyone a FABULOUS weekend! :)

Victoria, this quote is the best. And I needed it. I am a bit controlling too and consider myself a bit OCD (self diagnosed) as well. I have not gotten to the level of relaxing when things are to perfect, but I am a work in progress.

    Have a great day!

I’m working on my own control issues, too! You’re right- maybe that makes us better at what we do. But it’s good to have someone to balance us out on the relationship side of life.

Can this be more true? People believe they have to stay in a horrible and stressful relationship in the name of love, very untrue.

    Love the quote. :-)

It’s like you are me. I am such an anxious person too. It’s consuming sometimes, and so exhausting! But you are right…life is too short, there is no need to keep toxic people around!

  • Anita

This is such a relatable post! :)

  • Arianna

Couldn’t agree more. Love this! Have a great weekend! :)

Ah great quote. So glad your fiance loves the way you are :D I think my fiance and I balance each other out hehe. I hope you had an amazing 4th of July!

I used to be a big worrier too.. until I dated my boyfriend who was even a bigger worrier and perfectionist than I am. And now that he does all the worrying, I find myself being very carefree these days. And because I’m being carefree, I actually help him ease his worries. lovely combination, huh?

This is something I struggle with as well – definitely helps to have a supportive significant other :) Hope you have a great weekend!

  • Jane

i LOVE this. i need to keep in mine especially while i’m working. i tend to stay in toxic environments because i don’t want to feel like i’m copping out.. i always tell myself to think the best, give benefits of the doubts.. to get over my stress… what a great reminder that it doesn’t have to be like this!

    we are the same person!

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

    p.s. what font is that??

These are words to live by. I can let my worries and anxieties take over sometimes and I just have to remember to keep them in check!

  • Kyla

This is so sweet, Victoria! I am also like you… I’m so happy you’ve found your special someone :)

You are speaking my language! I am a perfectionist and tend to be really hard on myself, not generally on others. Luckily, my hubs loves me for all my follies and I am a work in progress. Love that I am not alone!
